Question

Boluva watch
Recently came by some family, ladies, Bulova watches.
Both are antique and in great shape, however do not run.
One is gold and somewhat common looking, however the other is
very ornate and appears to be white gold or platinum.
Other than the Bulova logo on the face, the only other identification is on one of the links which says Bulova Pat. 2-17-25. How would I tell if this watch is gold or platinum?

Answer
Bob,

It should have been identifying marking, such as "14k".

If you cannot find a marking, take it to a jeweler and he might be able to find it using his magnifying device.

If not, the jeweler may have a way to detect what the metal is using an electronic device or chemical compounds.

Kind regards,

Melvin
