Clocks, Watches/Mantle clock identification

Question
Further to my previous question about adjusting the timing of the chime on my mantle clock, could I just ask - is there any way to identify the clocks maker other than visual inspection of the rear side of the movement.
So far all I can discover visually is a paper label inside the rear door which dates it as 15-11-1937 and some small markings on the movement casing. There is a small stamped/engraved mark that looks like a "Star of David" and a mark that looks like it says "12cm" but I'm not entirely sure of that - will have to look again when I finally find my magnifying glass!
I am simply interested in discovering any history of the clock, as it was a wedding gift of a great-aunt of mine.

Yes I would think we could help - email again when you find your magnifying glass or attach a photo.
