Question
QUESTION: I have a Seth Thomas Westminster mantel clock and the center spring acts like there is something broke, is there a replacement spring I can purchase

ANSWER: yes.

will it turn and get tighter but not click and hold?
will it just spin?
will it wind, click and get tighter but then let go?

need all the markings off the back of the brass plate of the mechanism to give you info on the spring replacement.

QUESTION: It will wind, click and then let go. The number is 124 and that is on the whole mechanism, meaning it is the backing plate of the entire working mechanism of the clock

Answer
this is the spring (photo is wrong though)

probably find the end of the spring has ripped out - could be annealed and a new hole punched in it and re-used 2" shorter to no big change, but that is the new spring you need in the URL.
