Question
I have a Ridgeway Grandfather Clock and there are rods missing out of the chime block.  Can you tell me where I can get the replacement chime block for this clock.  It is a Ridgeway.  There are two numbers that I found on it 8903 and 90005744.
Thank you
Janet

Answer
Hi Janet,

The numbers on the chime block will not be of assistance to you.

Chime block and rod assemblies are available from any good clock materials supplier, such as Timesavers (www.timesavers.com) or Merritts Antiques (www.merritts.com).

You will have to try to find the chime assembly that is most similar to your original as to the number and positions of the chime rods. You may not be able to find one that is identical, but there should be one which will function properly. It is possible that will have to drill new holes in the case back if the holes in the new block do not line up.

Also, note that every chime assembly has its unique tone, and the new assembly will not sound exactly like the original one.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
