Question
my grand father's "howard miller" grandfather clock wont stay running.the hands aren't touching but seem a little stiff.it will run without the pendulum though im not sure i've got it on correctly.the clock has been moved and i've been trying to adj the feet.can you help?

Answer
The fact that it runs with the pendulum of is good news. Hopefully it is just a matter of adjusting the beat. Some clocks have auto-beat movements. Try holding the pendulum way over to one side and letting it swing (try to not let it hit the other side of the clock case).
If your clock is an auto beat type, this should put it back in beat.
If your clock still stops I would like for you to tell me a couple of things: Does the ticking sound evenly spaced in time like a metronome? Or, is the ticking uneven?
Does the pendulum wobble at all?
Let me know if you need more help. Michael
