Clocks, Watches/How do I remove hour hand from grandfather clock

Question
We have a Barwick grandfather clock bought in 1974. It was last oiled by a professional five years ago. We have since moved to a remote area. I have the proper oil to do the job myself, however I can't reach the pins on the front of the movement, unless I remove the faceplate. How do I remove the hour hand in order to remove the faceplate? It does not seem to want to come off when I give it a gentle tug. It moves forward on a spring system, but the hand stays put. The instructions that came with the oil kit from Howard Miller didn't give me a clue about getting to the front oiling points. Thank you for your help and advice.

Answer
do not oil it - it does not need it if it was oiled 5 years ago- come back in 10 years. Of course if could be worn out being 34 years old and all...

in any case just twist and pull the hour hand off the shaft - just friction fit and the shaft is tapered
