Question
I have a simple wall clock, but the back black box which houses the single AA battery and perhaps a small motor? will not work, have tried replacement battery, to no avail.  Can just this black box be removed and replaced??

Answer
Hi Sheryn,

The black box to which you are referring is the clock's movement, and it can be replaced.

These quartz battery movements are available from any good clock supply house, and at many craft and hobby stores. You must select a movement with the same hand shaft length as your original. Installation is usually easy. You must unscrew the hand nut and remove the hands. The movement is usually then held in by a single nut on the hand shaft. Your original hands will fit the new movement unless the original movement is quite old. http://www.clockmasteronline.com
