I have two questions but both related. I have Illinois pocket watch Serial Number 3272131, I think it is 17 jewel and an Elgin serial number 22298285, Size 16, Grade 387. I was wondering if you could tell me what ref. number or size balance staff these watches take. Second question, If you can, where and how did you find the information. Thanks in advance Larry

There is a book that has all that information in it.  You will need to find them used because they are out of print.  You are looking for the respective watch parts catalogue.

The good news is that you don't need them to get parts.  Most parts warehouses will be able to get you the parts based on the information that you have already provided me.  Serial number, size, grade.
