Clocks, Watches/Cuckoo Clock Night Shut Off

Question
Hello,

I have a 1 day bird and leaf cuckoo clock with 3 weights that is at least 25 years old. As far as I can see, there is no night shut off - is it possible to have one installed?

Answer
Hello Amber,

Not knowing the maker of your clock there is usually a small wire at the birds door that will lock the door.  Most of the time that will stop the cuckoo and strike procedure but in a rare few clocks it will also stop the clock.  I assume you looked on the very bottom of the box hidden behind the leaves for a small rod hanging out thru a hole.  Usually this rod can be pushed up and is a shut off.  Not all clocks have this option.  If none of these are available figure out a way to lock the door closed or take it to a clocksmith and they can disarm the cuckoo.

Hope this will help.
