Question
Hi, I have an E. Ingraham Company Mantel clock entitled "Hunting". I would like to find original parts to refurbish (such as pendulum, hands, bezel & Possibly a new movement). Would also like to obtain specifications on this.
It has a 5.5 inch dial. I have been researching this clock for months. I have only found one identical to mine. It has hand carved wood panels with a fox hunting scene. Thank You, Laurie
AnswerYou do indeed have a very scarce and unique clock crying out for restoration. Un fortunately I am not going to be able to help you. My technical library has long since been donated to various professional organization. Most of my materials involving Ingraham went to either the NAWCC, (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors) or, AWI, (American Watchmaker - Clockmaker Institute). Both are accessable on the Internet. If I am not much mistaken the NAWCC serves only its members. Give them a try anyway.
Over my many years of engagement in the world of horology I have seen only one other similar clock. If memory serves me correctly the only thing unique about the clock was its case, everything else was quite standard Ingraham.. This factor greatly simplifies the mechanical restoration of the piece. If you have not already done so, remove the movement from the case. You will note that on the front plate of the movement, the name E. Ingraham is stamped. To the left of the name is stamped a two digit number, say 04, this represents the month April. To the right of the name Ingraham appears another two digit number, say 26, this represent the year 1926. Ergo the clock was made during April of 1926. With that information at hand you can go to ebay and seek out a whole clock from that time period. You can rob the parts you need from that clock. Believe me it would be worth your while to take this route. With a bit of good luck you might find just the parts you need and not have to buy a whole clock. Me, I would opt out for the whole clock, without hesitation. Regards WJP
