Question
Have a Gilbert clock that keeps fairly good time however I cannot get the hourly chime to match present hour. Seem that the hourly chime and correct hour is OFF about 3 hour.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
You need to reposition the hour hand.  The hour hand is friction fit to its shaft so you are safe in turning it.  As an example let us say the clock says it is 7 o'clock yet it struck only 4 times.  This means the hour hand is positioned 3 hours late.  To correct this problem simply turn the hour hand back to 4.  This action will have synchronized the time to the strike.  I.e. the clock had struck 4 and the hands now, also say 4.  Your next step is to advance the minute hand through its full 12 hours.  When the minute hand reaches 12 the clock should strike 5 times and the hour hand will be pointing at 5.  Continue adjusting the setting until the hands show the correct time.  At each strike sequence allow all strikes to complete before moving the minute hand further forwards.  Regards WJP
