Question
QUESTION: If an antique pocket watch case states it is Warranted or Guaranteed for a number of years but does not mention gold plated or gold filled on it, is it still one of those by the mere mention of the guarantee or warranted references?  If so, does one idicate gold filled and the other gold plated?  Thanks!

ANSWER: Ms. Cathy,

Yes, the mention of either Warranted or Guaranteed denotes gold filled and Warranted or Guaranteed NOT to wear through to the base metal for the number of years stated.

The terms are interchangeable.

Kind regards,

Melvin

QUESTION: Melvin,  Thanks so much for the quick response.  I gave you all 10's!  I have one last question.  I am getting ready to list some watches on ebay and wonder if I should state that they are gold filled or gold plated.  Thanks, Cathy

Answer
Ms. Cathy,

Yes, by all means.  Describe the watches in the createst detail possible.  USE LOTS OF PICTURES.  I know it costs you more but since a collector cannot inspect it, the pictures are the next best thing.  If you don't use pictures, it will affect the price you receive.

Kind regards,

Melvin
