Question
I have a 30 hour long case clock which has started to do two things.
Firstly the chimes speed up as they go through the sequence of chiming.
Secondly the chimes have gone out of sequence and although corrected soon go out of sequence and chime and then seem to skip hours (say from 2 o'clock to 7 o'clock)
Can you advise please?

Answer
Hello Peter,

It is probably the fan/governor usually found at the top left on the movement.
The fan has worn on its shaft and needs to be crimped carefully to snug fit the shaft.  It needs to be frictioned tight but still able to be turned with your finger.  There are reasons but I wont bore you with the details.  This will also stop it from jumping and allowing it to over strike.
Good luck and let me know if I was wrong and we will troubleshoot some more.
