Question
QUESTION: Hi
I recently purchased a nice looking used regulator wall clock by Trend.  I don't know the history and it was missing the pendulum.  The round face, bezel, movement, (2) cable weights, gong coil and pulleys appear clean and in good shape.  The round face says Trend and Western Germany.  The directions say Trend by Sligh and Movement No. 122.  I no nothing about clocks but I am an architect and thought this would be an enjoyable and interesting personal project.  Where do I start?  Can I purchase a replacement pendulum somewhere?  Can you recommend any clock makers in Chicago area?  Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

ANSWER: To locate a clock maker in your area, goto <local.com>  This will provide you with a selection screen asking you to enter the city or area which you wish to acquire services,  In this instance you would enter 'Chicago'.  The next box asks for the type of service requested, in this box you would enter, 'clock repair'.  Press enter and you will be rewarded by a list of providers in your area.
You should have no problem locating a pendulum for your clock.  In this regard you need to determine the maker of the movement.  Often times you will find the information stamped upon the movements brass backplate.  The number reference to pendulum length is often followed be 'cm' which means centimeters.  For example if it says 54cm your clock requires a pendulum of 54cm.
Simple, what?
Hope this works for you.  Have fun!  Regards WJP
