Question
hi there, just wondering if you can help me with a W&D pocketwatch i recently acquired,i have read a brief history on it via web,it suggests that the earlier models have the initials w&d stamped on the inner back casing, which it does, there is the letter P amongst a lot of serial numbers, the winding pin is missing and it is very dirty as it was laying in a garden shed amongst nuts and bolts, would it be worth getting it repaired and cleaned as i am not a collector of watches,i know you do not give valuations and was also wondering if it is collectable.

Answer
Mike,

Holy cow!  What a great find.  The only things I find in the shed are the nuts and bolts. haha

Is it worth getting fixed?  That depends on what is wrong with it.  If it only needs a good cleaning, oil, and to be timed, then the answer it probably yes.

If it needs a lot of work, then maybe no.

Take it to a watchmaker to have him take a look at it.  You might be pleasantly surprised that the repairs needed are minor.

In good condition, it is collectible.

Congratulations.

Kind regards,

Melvin
