Clocks, Watches/chime adjustment on Franz Hermle

Question
I have a Franz Hermle 340-020 movement. The chimes are about 5 minutes off off what the minute hand reads. How do I get the minute hand in time with the chimes?

Answer
Hello Ron,

First remove the hand nut being careful not to drop it.  Hold the min. hand and use a small plier to loosen the nut.

This next procedure is a little trial and error.

Use pliers to hold the brass nut firmly that is attached to the min hand.  Then holding the min hand about middle way turn the hand a fraction the direction that you need to and reattach to the hand shaft.  Repete this till it is where you want it.  Again don't lose the hand nut.  When you replace the hand nut just snug it up.

Sometimes there is a lot of friction when adjusting but it will turn as it is only frictioned to the hand and there are no threads to worry about. Careful not to bend the min. hand.

Hope this helps
