Question
QUESTION: no sound.  also where can I get replacement hands? it is  howard miller 610-236

ANSWER: Hello Marie,

A few questions

Is there a chime selector/silencer lever on the dial?  Usually at the #3 or #9.

Is the heavy weight on the right side, facing the clock?

Has it been serviced within the past 8 years by a clocksmith?

Do you have a local clocksmith?  If so he might have replacement hands.  If not timesavers.com has an on line pdf catalog and you can pick hands from their huge selection.  I think they have a 25 dollar min. order.  You will need a hand nut that keeps the hands in place.

Other than service that is the only things I can suggest.

Feel free to call me.

QUESTION: yes the heavy weight is on the right.  The chime selector wont chime for none of the selections in another words it is off the silent

Answer
If the clock has just been moved try this.

put about 2 pounds of downward pressure on the right weight, be careful and dont overdo it, then while applying pressure move the min hand to a chiming position  This may un lock a glitch or if it chimes only with the extra pressure it is a sign of grime and or bushing wear.  Be very careful doing this step as.

Let me know.
