Question
I have a Boston Ship Strike marine clock, German quartz movement, battery operated. Problem: The bell chime rings at odd times and up to 30 rings at once. Battery is new.

Answer
Ships bell strike is an odd sequence but 30 times should never happen. Some of the movements have a rack and snail on the outside of the movement housing. Others have everything inside the movement and there is nothing you can do to correct them.
If you want some help fixing it the dial will have to be removed so you can get to the front of the movement. At that point I would like to see a photo of the front of the movement. Then I could help you make any adjustments that are possible.
