Question
Hi
I have recently inherited an Emperor Grandfather clock. I would like to know what the lever is to the right of the face?
Also what do I need to do to look after the clock correctly?

Thanks

Answer
if the clock has more than 8 black rods hanging down in the back of the movement - it is a quarter chime selector and off

if you have 8 rods only then the lever turns on and off the Westminster quarter chimes.

Nothing to do - run it till you have a problem and call a pro.
