Question

Westminster Chimes
My brother and I transported the subjest Grandfather clock and when I unpacked it I found the Westminster Chime rods had fallen out of the base and were in the bottom of the cabinet. The number on the base is B122/16. There are eight rods and they are tapered on one end and will push back in in two rows of four, but I do not know what order to put them in. Could you direct me to a webb sight that might have instructions for reinserting the rods?

Answer
buy the set- replace them all :

they have broken off - you can not reinsert them- remove the base - put in a vise and after soaking the brass threaded tops with oil , use a quite large screwdriver - remove from the top

if they resist un-screwing, before snapping the slotted heads off - try a second pair of hands with a hammer on the screwdriver while turning ( an impact screwdriver in effect)

the left side strike order does not matter

the right side Westminster must be in shortest to longest when the mechanism does 4 notes only on one quarter (quarter after the hour)
