Clocks, Watches - Seth Thomas Helmsman Clock

Expert: Michael Radi - 11/7/2009

Question
I have a Seth Thomas Helmsman clock model #E537-001.  It has been in storage for about 25 years.  The clock works perfectly, but the bells are no longer in sync with the time.  How do I re-synchronize the bell strike with the time?

Answer
Hi Doug, The newer Seth Thomas Helmsman clocks are easier to adjust than the old ones. Let's try this: It should strike even numbers on the top of the hour and odd numbers on th 1/2. Please tell me if this is not the case with your clock.
To set the strike simply move the hour hand to the correct hour. 12:00, 4:00 and 8:00 should be 8 bells.
Let me know how it goes.
Michael
