Question
Dear Sir,I am trying to research a grandmother clock made by (I believe) Emperor ,which is labeled on the front of the clock. this clock stands about 6' 2 or so and is narrower than a grandfather clock.Where would I look to find further info. I did contact a clock company ,and they said that Emperor was a Mfg, and the clock was from a kit.Something sold at Sears or a store like that. Also I'm researching another clock. The label on the back says  8day clock Sanpedro Mantel Mission gong type The NewHavenClock Co,. NewHaven,Patented Aug 9th 1904. Both of these look clean,(grandmother clock looks new) ,and in good shape . The mantel clock has an almost black, very dark finish in  color. I would appreciate any and all info ,about history ,and if worth fixing.

Answer
The Emperor Clock company is indeed a provider for clock kits and are still very much in business, selling directly to the public.  They have a very good public relations unit whom I suggest you contact.  E-mail address is <www.emperorclock.com>.
As to the New Haven Clock it is one of their city series clocks, named after the city of SanPedro, California.  I would say it was most likely circa 1910.  As to whether or not either of these clocks are worth fixing is subjective.  To me it would be a matter of how much I liked them.  I'm a professed nut so would opt out to adopt them into the household and care for them like any other member.  Regards WJP
