hello my wall clock chimes on the half hour just great but on the hour it will not stop chiming. The clock keeps perfect time it just started doing this .any help would be great thank you for your time.   johnnie

Hello Johnnie,

There is a function on the front of the movement just behind the dial called the gathering pallet that is not locking because of a worn pin or a worn bushing.  Not a lot that can be done in the home.  If you remove the hands and the dial you will see a serrated part that drops onto a snail looking part and then is lifted one strike at a time till it has counted and struck the correct hour and then is locked off till the next hour. For some reason the stop is not functioning, due to wear or lack of proper lube,possibly a bent pin.  Sounds like it needs a clocksmith.  Wish I could be of more help.  If a phone call might help feel free to call me.
