Question
QUESTION: Hello, I recently came in to possession of a Ansonia Regulator clock. The clock says made in the USA. I do not know the age of the clock, and that is what I’m trying to figure out, My problem is that I know absolutely nothing about clocks, this includes were I can locate more information about my clock from my clock. Were should I look on the clock for dates and model codes? I know this is mechanical because it has a key. The clock is very heavy, and large. It has an octagon shape with a drop. Please see Picture. I have more if you want them.
ANSWER: it is about 25 years old with a German movement that will have more info stamped on the back of the rear of the metal movement.

QUESTION: How do i get to the rear of the movement?
Answerif the case has no back door - then the hands come off and the dial comes off and the screws holding the movement come out and the movement gets removed and looked at directly
perhaps your curiosity is getting you more involved than you need to be- for no real benefit
the original Ansonia Clock company quit making clocks in 1929 in CT- the name has been sold and liscensed often since then-- with yours, the wood case was made by a company I think in Washington state, if I remember.
new ones with the same name, made who knows where and with Korean time and strike only movements are currently on sale on Ebay:
