QUESTION: Hi Kenneth, I have a Howard Miller Mantel clock with 340-020 movement, it runs 4 minutes slow per day, the three legged adjustment on the rotating wheel is all the way to the right, and can not go any more... but it is still runs 4 minutes per day slow.
I would appreciate any advice.

ANSWER: the movement needs cleaning and or overhaul

perhaps just cleaning the floating balance unit will help

both ideas are jobs for a professional

QUESTION: Thanks for quick reply. I have tried to locate a clock professional in my area but to no avail. Is there any solution that we can dip the whole movement in it and simply give it a "bath" in order to clean it, without taking it apart?
Of-course it has to be a solution that dries out.

if dipping is solution was the answer, all clock repair shops would have much less business --NO, on the idea about a solution that is why I said"both ideas are jobs for a professional"
