i can no longer get the music or the half hour strike to work the time of day works

Answer
There is not a 1/2 hour strike, only quarter hour chimes and the hour strike.
There are too many things that could make this clock stop chiming to cover here. I would start by applying oil to the pivot holes. This is especially effective on the fan pivots and the gear that drives the fan. The fan is at the top of the movement. There is one on the chime side and one on the strike side.
Any repair beyond that should be done by a qualified clock repair person.
