Question
the chime and movement work very well however their was some damage to the dial and casing.while I was cleaning the dial I realised it was paper and not enamel. Is this usual?and shall I replace it? the paper is between the numbers.thanks

Answer
Paper dial faces are quite common and are readily replaceable.  You can either have it done or do it yourself if you are so disposed.  If you choose the DIY route you can buy a replacement through any of the major clock materials houses.  Example; Merritt's Antiques, TimeSavers, or Ronell Clocks.  All of these houses sell to the public as well as the trade and maintain on-line catalogs.  If you wish to have it done, any competent clock repair person could do the job for you.  Regards WJP
