Question
Our clock chimes very, very slow------it does keep accurate time, though.

Answer
Hi Angie,

Slow chiming is a symptom either of need for lubrication or of wear in the clock's bearings. A professional clock repairer can lubricate your clock and also examine it to see if the bearings are worn.

If you want to try lubricating the clock yourself, you will need to remove the clock from the case, and probably remove the hands and dial. You must use CLOCK OIL only, and put a tiny drop of oil at each point where a gear shaft emerges from a hole in the front and back main plates of the movement. Diagnosing wear is more difficult and requires some experience in knowing how much clearance to look for in the bearings.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
