Question
Mr. Perkins, I am working on above clock and replaced the springs.  Two were bad and it's just as easy to replace the third while I had it apart.  After putting it together the minute chime actuation and the cam that tickles the hammers is out of whack.  I see a dimple on each of the two gears that transfer rotation to the strike cam.  I assume these either line up, together or separately, to make it all work.  From this crude description can you tell me roughly how to do it.  Our library doesn't have the Hermle manual and the other book you recommend is checked out.  Sincerely

Answer
I suspect the dimples refered to were made by a prior repair person to guide him back to correct positioning.  Unfortunately we do not know the rational for his marking, ergo, we dont know the relativity he wished to re-establish.  If one is not familiary with the right lay-up one shoul allways make notes, take pictures, make drawings or what ever it takes to make sure everything goes bak to its proper position.  Since you do not have the benifit of any of this you will have to do a trial and error elimination.  You will have to by moving the gears you refer to, a tooth at a time in a clock wise direction until you make the proper setting.  Again the books I refer to would be of great help.  I wish you luck, WJP
