Question
Hi Melvin,
I came accross your site whilst trying to find some more infomration about a watch that i have in my posession.

It is a white gold/silver watch with a "stretchy" wrist band that has small black squares on it (not sure what this material is). It says Lady Elgin on the face. It doesn't have a glass front, it's plastic (don't know if it has been replaced).  On the back, it says 14k and has a circle with a C in the middle of it. Do you have any information on this?  I am at work at the moment, so don't have the watch to hand for further information.
Sorry to bother you,
Kind regards,
Emma.

Answer
It may be from the Elgin watch company.  They went out of business n 1964 after 100 years of business.  Another company has been using the name but it is not the same company.  If it is a quartz watch, you know it is not the original company.

Based on the markings, it is 14k.  That does mean that it has some value.

I hope that was some help.

Melvin
