Question
Do all clocks from this era wind the same, left hole for chiming, right hole for time?  I'm trying to find a good but simple guide to oiling my Gilbert kitchen clock, but there are far too many to choose from.  Any suggestions?  I could take it to a shop, but I love to do my own work in everything if possible.

Answer
There is a owner's oiling kit available.  It includes lubricant and instructions.  Just what you need.  Goto <howtorepairclocks.com/clock-oil.html>  No clocks do not have the same winding configuration although the vast majority are as you describe.  Hope this helps you.  Refards WJP
