Clocks, Watches/Slow Chime Hammers on Hermle works

Question
I just recently installed a (new) Hermle works which had been sitting in a
basement for several years. Everything works fine except the chimes.  These
were barely moving at first and now 2 of the hammers still move slowly.  If I
work them back and forth for a bit they will work the next time but until the
next 15 minutes they are having a problem again. What is the best cleaning
agent or what do you suggest?

Answer
You are on the right track.  The clock sounds like it needs cleaning or possibly fresh lubrication.  Should cleaning be required, I suggest you have it done.  As for lubricating there are a number of
kits available for that purpose.  Such kits include proper lubricant and instructions.  One such kit is available through the following on-line address <howtorepairclocks.com/clock-oil.html>   Regards WJP
