Question
Hello I have a Haid grandfather clock and would like to see if there is a way to make this not chime ?

Thanks Ty

Answer
Hi Ty,

I don't know the setup of your clock, but can give you some general information. Some clocks don't have a chime shut off. If you do have one, it may be a lever in the dial near the "3", "9" or "12".
Some clocks have two strings hanging down inside the case from inside the movement. You pull down on these strings and hook them onto a hook mounted on each inside side of the clock to stop the chime and strike.
A few clocks have shut off levers which you must access from the movement, by removing the hood, side panels or back panel. Some clocks have levers which press down onto the chime and strike rods, preventing them from striking. In most cases, you can push these levers down to prevent the chime hammers from lifting, or lift them up to prevent the hammers from contacting the chime rods. Occasionally with this last system, pushing the levers down may stop the clock.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
