Question
I've been told I need a suspension pin for a 150 Westminster chime weight-driven movement model #4882 Barwick Clocks Division.  Where can I get this?  Thanks!
Kathy

Answer
Hi Kathy,

I don't know of any part called a "suspension pin". There is a part called a "suspension spring" which often breaks. The suspension spring is mounted on a horizontal post on the back of the movement, and attached to the post by either a screw or a taper pin. All these parts are available from clock supply houses, although the screw may be difficult to match in size and thread.

Suspension springs are selected by ordering a printed catalog and comparing your broken spring with the actual-size pictures of suspension springs. Due to variations in computer display sizes, this does not work with online catalogs. Taper pins come in inexpensive assortments of different sizes. Suspension spring screws will be available for Hermle and Kieninger movements, but other makes of movements may be more difficult, and you may need to go to a clockmaker to find a match.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
