Question
I WAS WINDING THE CLOCK AND IT STARTED CHIMING.  THE CLOCK WILL START CHIMING THE HOUR  ONCE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MUSIC AND FINISH CHIMING THE HOUR WHEN THE MUSIC IS DONE.  THIS IS A 18 YR OLD SLEIGH GRANDFATHER CLOCK

Answer
There is a lever on the chime side that stops a pin on the strike side when it lifts for the chime cycle. You would need to look at the front of the clock movement and figure out why the chime lever is not stopping the strike.
If you get the face off and send me a photo of the fron of the movement I can tell you more about it.
