Clocks, Watches/Chime Error on Battery Wall Clock

Question
I have a battery powered school house clock purchased from J.C. Penney in the 1970s. The works were replaced by a clock repair shop in 1991. The clock keeps perfect time and has chimed perfectly until recently. Now it has started chiming the hour at the half hour, but it also chimes the correct hour at the hour.  In other words, each half hour, it chimes the next hour, then at the hour it correctly chimes the hour again.

Answer
Hi Judy,

This does not sound like a setting or adjustment problem, but more likely an internal problem in the movement. There are no repairable parts in quartz movements, and the movement must be replaced when there is an internal problem. Quartz battery movements are available from clock supply houses, and are usually not difficult to install.
