Question
QUESTION: This works is in an attractive all-wood Regulator-style clock in our kitchen. The pendulum keeps working, but the clock hands don't move. It has hour and half-hour chime, but that's turned off. We like the clock, would like to keep it in working condition. What does it need

ANSWER: The first thing that comes to mind is that the hands are locked.  Examine the hands very closely to see if the minute hand has slid underneath the hour hand.  If this be the case move the minute hand backwards to free it from contact with the hour hand.  This done push the hourhand towards the dial.  If this does not allow the minute hand to pass the hour hand, you will have to bend the minute hand outwards to achieve the clearance needed.  Should this not solve the problem take your clock to a professional clock repair person for examination.  Regards WJP

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I should have been more exact in my original question. The hands move freely. In fact, I've tried resetting the clock by moving the hands. Sometimes it runs for awhile, once even several days. Or when I take it down to tinker with the works, when I put it back, it runs for awhile.

Answer
Considering your lack of confidence in my knowledge I do not believe it appropriate for me to further advise you on matters concerning your clock.  It would be far more appropriate for you to refer yourself to another all expert.  I wish you success, regards WJP
