Question
I have a Plymouth Mantel Clock- 7 Day which is running fine. On the inside back door there is a warranty card attached to the door.  At the bottom of the card it says--- Z-23-C.  From what I've read this should be the date made.  I understand the 23 may mean the year and C means March. If so, what does the Z stand for.  Also written in a lead pencil above the card is a note, it says--- sold & war 12-18-1939 by C R Klugar--- is this the date made.  All the parts and glass and brass cover door are original, except for the brass stem holding the weight, can you give me an idea of value?

Answer
i would think that "sold & war 12-18-1939 by C R Klugar" is the date sold originally and of course made a few months before, normally. Seth Thomas made these clocks and often on their clocks they stamped with an ink stamp the date code when made on the bottom of the cases or the back door. worth less than $150.
