Question
Hi,
I have a Ridgeway Mantle clock (with 3 chimes) purchased new in 1981 (has 1050-020 engraved on back of movement).

It runs fast.  Can you tell me how to adjust the "speed".  There is a - and + marking but I don't see how to adjust.

Thanks so much,
Bruce

Answer
As my response to this question I am going to provide you with an internet site that will explain how this adjustment are to be made.  Generally speaking when the floating balance begins to falter it is time to have your clock cleaned and adjusted.  I would suggest you have the clock examined before attempting any adjustments yourself.  Here is the site <home.earthlink.net/~atmosman/earthftp.html>  this will take you to an index, from the index, select and click upon the item "Hermle Floating Balance".  The last time I looked it was item 49.  Since the index is being upgraded every day, its number changes.  This should work for you.  Regards WJP
