Question
Hello,
I recently purchased a Waltham 31 day clock at a Goodwill Store. It looks great, chimes nice, but I can't figure out how to put the weights on . There are 4 chains and only two weights. Are weights missing? Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks

Answer
What you are seeing is two chains.  Each chain wraps around a ratchet wheel, as a result there are 4 pieces of chain exposed to you.  On the end of each chain there should be a hook.  You hang the a weight from each of these hooks.  On the other end of each chain should be what is called a chain stop.  This keeps the chain from coming off of the ratchet wheel.  If your chains are not so fitted I suggest get a couple of key rings and put them on the ends.  Regards WJP
