Question
I have an alaron 31 day clock and the winding spring is broken. I was told i would have to replace the entire movement and that costs more than the clock when it was purchased. Is there any place to repair or find parts for these.

Answer
Replacing the mainspring may be the only option you have. Matching the movement is not easy. The movement was made in Korea and finding the correct movement could be very difficult.
Any decent clock repair person can replace the spring but it is not a job that should be done by someone without some clock repair experience and the correct tools. The movement will have to be partially or totally disassembled (depending on the model) to put a new spring in. The other mainspring must have its power let down into a clamp for safety purposes. When I ran a clock ship I used to charge $85.00 parts and labor.
I hope this information is helpful.
