Clocks, Watches/watch battery

Question
I have fitted a new battery in my garrard wrist watch and it runs for about two or three hours and stops,I remove the battery then replace it and the watch starts.
when the watch stops the second hand is trying to move.
Thank you.

Answer
Michael,

If the second hand is trying to move, it means that something is getting in the way of it.  Make sure the hands are not touching.  Not even a little.

There is a device called  a Horetec Turbo that spins the hands quickly and will show problems immediately.

If it is not in the hands, which is the most likely cause, then it is in the gears.  You will need to take the gears out, clean them, and then reassemble the watch.  That is very rare.

As I stated, it is most likely something encumbering the hands.

Kind regards,

Melvin
