Question
Hi,
I have inherited a Hamilton gold pocket watch made by Star Watch Case company, looks to be a train watch, there is a train engraved on the on the back cover. It has 21 jewels, 5 positions and blue hands. It doesn't seem to run, is there a licensed dealer or person I should take it to. It looks nice and as if it is worth something but I would like for it to run. Do I wind it?
The watch #1738346.
Thank you for any help you can offer in this matter.
Sincerely, Rhonda Teague

Answer
Ms. Rhonda,

Yes, you do wind it.  Try that first.  It might run.

There is no authorized dealers for the pocketwatches.

You can send it to any watchmaker.   You can first check with your local jewelry store.

If that doesn't help, you can send it to me.

If it needs only to be serviced, you can expect a bill of $150-$200.

It goes up if the watch needs parts.

Kind regards,

Melvin
