Question
Inherited Herschede Panama Int'l Expo Grand Prize 1913 grandfather clock. Cables were not secured when moved. When clock was started, cables tangled into impossible mess and clock stopped. How do I locate competent repair person? (Muskegon, MI)

Hi Nan,

It can be difficult finding a good clock repair person. Both the AWCI (http://www.awci.com/) and NAWCC (http://www.nawcc.org/)
(clockmakers/watchmakers organizations) have listings of service people by area, and both are on the Net. Other than that, I would recommend asking for recommendations from acquaintances who have had grandfather clocks repaired, and calling clock stores and antique stores for recommendations. For a very valuable and fine quality clock such as yours, I would ask any potential repairer how experienced he is in repairing Herschede clocks.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
