The clock is in excellent condition problem is that it gains like crazy .It had a 1.5 volt battery in it but wouldn,t run .Installed new battery still no go ,,Hooked up a 9 volt battery and it runs fine but gains ,tried every which way to slow it down, I figured battery to powerful need  the info on what battery and adjustment ,,thank you in advance ,,Glenn Reed

Answer
Hi Glenn,

Your clock should use a 1.5 volt Horolovar Style battery. Ordinary D, C or AA batteries are not acceptable. The 9 volt battery probably just overpowered the escapement and forced the clock to run more like a motor than like a clock escapement. If the clock does not run with the proper 1.5 volt battery, then there is a problem in the clock. The source of this problem could any of a large number of things, and is beyond the scope of this forum. Horolovar Style batteries are available from Timesavers.com.
