Question
I recently bought an 8 day Schatz cuckoo clock without the pendulum. I bought a Maple leaf 2 1/2" x 3" and 7" long from timesavers. The problem is that I can not slow it down with the maple leaf at the bottom of the shaft. I tried lighter weights but it would not run. The pendulum matches the leaves on the clock that's why I bought it. They do have others that are bigger or longer. The clock has been ultrasonically cleaned and in good condition. Any help would be appreciated. thanks toml

Answer
you just need a longer pendulum.  you can make an extension out of a paperclip - bend a flat bottomed "U" about 3/8" wide and then bend the ends into two short hook "ears" to hook onto the wire at the bottom of the movement and then hook the pendulum top onto the bottom of the U
