Question I have a 20 plus year old grandfathr clock made by Black Forrest. Recently the clock fell over by accident. The clock mechanism still works fine. It chimes on the quarter hour ok. The problem is the chimes are not ringing very loud since the fall. How do you adjust the volume of the chimes? It is a chain driven clock. Thankyou for your assistance.
Answer make sure the cast iron block holding the chime rods is still secure to the wood back. has the entire mechanism + dial shifted left or right? (does it look centered in the upper door frame?)two bolts under the mechanism seatboard can be adjusted to re-center if needed.
the hammer handles can be bent with fingers to be 3/16" away from each chime rod when in the resting position. no other volume adjustment is possible.
