Question
how do i remove the hour hand

Answer
The minute hand must be removed first. There is a small nut holding on the minute hand.
The hour hand us usually pressed on. You would carefully (not to damage the hand) pull it straight off. Sometimes you may have to turn the hand forward and back a little bit to help it slide off.
