Question
Dear Experts,
I have a problem. It seems that the cernter sprocket holding the weights is stripped. It no longer holds the weight up. You can easily pull on each side of the chain. This does not seem like an easy fix considering it is the center one...Please help

Answer
Hi Bill,

The chain wheel ratchet mechanism consists of a large ratchet wheel, the click (ratchet pawl) and the clickspring, a flat spring which holds tension on the click to keep it engaged with the ratchet wheel teeth.

There are a few movements in which you can remove the chain wheel relatively easily, but most movements require complete disassembly to remove this wheel. This amounts to a complete overhaul of the movement, and is not economically practical. In these cases, unfortunately, the only cost-efficient solution is to replace the entire movement.  http://www.clockmasteronline.com
