Question
I have a Continental Quartz pocket watch that someone gave me about 10 yrs. ago. It doesn't work although I think it did when I got it. Can it be repaired. It doesn't look like it has any type of compartment although I suppose it does! Thank you for your help!

Answer
Ms. Sally,

Some watches were made so they would not open.  When they died, that was the end.  A true "throw away piece".

Fortunately, most watches can be repaired.  Look for a wedge around the edge of the watch.  That lip is where a watchmaker would put a tool to open the case.  As long as one can get the case open, the watch can be fixed.

Kind regards,

Melvin
